Today would have been Marilyn Monroe’s 85th birthday, if she hadn’t died in 1962 from a prescription drug overdose. The white accordion halter dress she wore in The Seven Year Itch is not only the most famous dress she ever wore, but happens to be one of the most iconic outfits in the history of pop culture. Marilyn plays “the girl” in this 1955 flick, who entices her neighbor while his wife and children are on vacation. Nicknamed the “subway dress,” this frock is going to be auctioned off later this month, and is estimated to go for a whopping $2 million dollars! If that’s the case, it may be one of the most expensive pieces of clothing around! (Update: This dress sold for $5.5 million a couple of weeks after this post!)
