Emmy Rundown 2011

At this year’s Emmy Awards, there were certainly some show-stopping, sexy sirens!  The event was full of confident color palettes, body-hugging silhouettes, and of course, sparkles!  Atop our favorites list were the appropriate choices made by Sofia Vergara in coral Vera Wang (pictured, bottom right) and Christine Baranski in an understated navy Zac Posen number (pictured, bottom left).  Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev (pictured, top left) proved she can hold her own against the red carpet she matched in her Donna Karan gown.  (Lea Michele, take note if you’re so obsessed with dramatic dresses, THIS is how you do it.)  Both Evan Rachel Wood (pictured, top right) and Martha Plimpton (pictured left) were all aglow in their dark-hued, sparkling stunners; Wood in her frequent favorite Elie Saab and Plimpton in Zac Posen.  Dexter star Jennifer Carpenter (pictured, right) sizzled in a beautifully, beaded barely there Tony Ward Couture creation that we’re sure left former husband and co-star Michael C. Hall speechless!  The worst-dressed?  Well Christina Hendricks and Elisabeth Moss of Mad Men looked like mad women, as they both were washed out in white.  Attention Hollywood: “beige” is synonymous with “boring” for a reason.  (Although, to be fair, Hendricks recently mentioned how designers don’t have gowns made in her size, so she’s had a very hard time finding something to wear on the red carpet…) Gwyneth Paltrow wore an ill-fitting crop top and matching long skirt by Emilio Pucci that made the “It” girl of the late 1990s look just awful.  Every girl from Glee got it wrong, like they usually do: Lea Michele was over-the-top, as always, Dianna Agron and Amber Riley’s dresses didn’t fit, Jayma Mays looked like she was going to her 8th grade graduation, Heather Morris had too much going on, and Emmy host Jane Lynch needed some serious straps.  And as usual, Heidi Klum made us wonder, “how the hell do you host a fashion television show?!”
