Wednesday’s Shoe

In celebration of Suri Cruise, it only makes sense we feature a pair of her infamous high heels.  She wore these adorable silver T-strap peep-toe heels while her mother, Katie Holmes, was filming The Romantics on Long Island.  The shoes are called “Marina Girls” from the dancing company Freed of London.  They cost $72.00 and come sizes children’s 7 to an adult 5.  Probably best only to dress up and dance in, but of course, they still look cute!

I’ve never worn high heels and can’t get used to essentially wobbling around on the balls of my feet.  But Effie runs around in them full-time, and I’m determined that if she can do it, so can I.”  Throughout The Hunger Games, Effie Trinket is always running around, making plans and sticking to schedules in her various pairs of high heels.  Costume designer Judianna Makovsky picked out some great selections for Effie’s onscreen presence, including these futuristic “Gold Faithful” peep-toe stiletto booties by Alexander McQueen, who served as one of Makovsky’s fashion inspirations for the film.  Originally priced around $1,200 (yikes – no wonder they’re meant for the opulent and indulgent people of the Capitol), they are now available on several online outlets for a lower price.

What’s a pair of heels perfect for a summer picnic?  These adorable pink gingham heels by Jessica Simpson with a crisscrossed open toe.  They retail at $79.99 (which seems to be the go-to price of Simpson’s shoe line, which must be working, because she’s well on her way to being a billionaire…)  This shoe is called the “Peers” and can be found on various online retailers.

If the Mean Girls like wearing pink on Wednesdays, then they’d certainly like these adorable pumps!  (Although, they’re a little too delicate for a clique referred to as “The Plastics!”  This past Wednesday’s Shoe was more apropos).  These Christian Louboutin slingback heels are called the “Georgineta.”  They are light pink and ivory patent leather with a covered platform tape toe.  They are perfect for the many feminine gatherings that come this time of year – bridal and baby showers, garden parties and so forth.  Although, the $795 price-tag is a little much!

There’s something so alluring and sexy about a hint of snakeskin.  Maybe it’s because our first notion of the serpents are rooted in danger – the Garden of Eden is full of sex, succulent fruit, and snakes.  Sounds like a happening place to us.  Made from python leather with a 4″ heel and the brand’s signature pop of scarlet, these Christian Louboutin Pigalle pumps just scream, “Take a bite.”

We’ve mentioned that Alice in Wonderland is a fantastic fashion and design inspiration, and since one of our editors is born on Valentine’s Day, she just happens to love all things Queen of Hearts.  These pumps are from Funtasma, and range between $27 and $55 from various online sites.  This editor included it a Polyvore set she created last month.  The red, white and black royal heels are 4″ tall and perfect for a sexy costume – or for a bit of fashion fun!

We’ve featured two pairs of Kate Middleton-inspired footwear for the last two weeks, so it makes sense to round out the trend with her wedding shoes.  The new princess wore custom-made Alexander McQueen by Sarah Burton lace heels to match her gown by the same designer.  According to the royal website, the nude stilettos were covered in “ivory duchesse satin with lace hand-embroidered by the Royal School of Needlework.”  Net-a-Porter is exclusively offering similar McQueen pumps to those interested in copycatting.  The round-toed pumps are 4.5 inches high and retail for $995.
