This “Pink Wednesday” is also the first day of February, and in honor of Valentine’s Day (which is this editor’s birthday), we’ll be featuring our favorite romantic outfits in TV and film. Here is Sarah Jessica Parker as her alter-ego, Carrie Bradshaw, in one of her best outfits during the final season of Sex and the City with Mikhail Baryshnikov playing her boyfriend, Aleksandr Petrovsky. Carrie yearns for this bright pink Oscar de la Renta cocktail dress (from his Spring 2004 Collection) earlier in the episode, and Petrovsky surprises her with the frock and a night at the ballet. She accessorizes it with a beautiful pair of T-strap silver stilettos and a cropped tuxedo jacket. It should be a night to remember, but the old-fashioned romance is just too much for the modern city girl, and Carrie faints right outside Lincoln Center! They decide to get McDonald’s instead, mixing old-world Russia with new-world America by slow-dancing in the fast food joint.

In lieu of the birthday of theSkinnyStiletto‘s original fashion icon, our mother, we’ve decided to dedicate our post today to this wonderful woman! A lady never reveals her age, but this one-of-a-kind wonder was a stunner in an era when fashion was severely lacking in style. The 70s had bellbottoms and lots of checkered pants and hippie threads, but our lovely Linda was always aglow in anything from a patterned sundress, to a form-fitting minidress (this is true), or a well-tailored jumper. She is the reason our editors have such varying tastes in their own personal styles as well. Linda is a hardworking and dedicated mother, wife, sister, friend, and educator. If it wasn’t for her fashion advice and guidance early on in our lives, we could’ve been doomed to follow horrible trends and bad taste. Our mother taught us the less-is-more rule back when we began playing dress-up and donning her make-up for recitals (which is anything but subtle) in preschool. Linda’s beautiful olive skin, naturally dark Italian tresses, and killer smile are what she has always been known for, and still is. We are honored to feature her here and hope that other women get to inspire their daughters as well! Happy Birthday Mom!! Check out our favorite It Girl, Mila Kunis (below), who was seen wearing a similar version of Linda’s dress, just recently, in Oscar de la Renta! You know what they say, history, including fashion, always repeats itself.
This is the ultimate summer gown – white, flowing, Grecian and still sexy, so it’s no surprise Gossip Girl‘s Blake Lively got to wear it in Season Two. It’s the epitome of Serena van der Woodsen’s style. The Oscar de la Renta dress was from his 2008 Spring Collection, and looks gorgeous on Lively at a fictional “White Party” in the Hamptons. She may be the Green Lantern’s girl now, but we’ll always see her as the carefree Upper East Sider Serena.
Camilla Belle certainly lives up to her surname (or in reality, her middle name), which means “beautiful” in French, and this beauty certainly looks luminous in bright blue. The color reminded us of the flower Glory-of-the-Snow. This blue bud is native to the alpine region of Europe, popping through the snow as a first sign of spring. (Just like a purple crocus for Americans.) Belle looks just as eye-catching in a sea of white, wearing this cobalt Oscar de la Renta dress.
