Look-of-the-Day

What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction.”  It seems the color of the sun will forever play an interesting role in Katniss Everdeen’s life… Here she is with fellow District 12 tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) in The Hunger Games.  The two make quite an attractive pair in a bright blue suit, and a soft, non-threatening yellow dress – nothing like what Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) has worn prior to this moment in her young life.  Without revealing too much about the series or the film, this seemingly happy moment will only be short-lived… Let the countdown to Catching Fire begin!

Look-of-the-Day

Freida Pinto is the chestnut-haired stunner that plays Dev Patel’s love interest in the 2009 Academy Award winning Best Picture Slumdog Millionaire.  Pinto is so gorgeous, she looks good in any color, but yellow was her character’s go-to hue in this film.  Costume designer Suttirat Anne Larlarb spoke of the famous scarf in the final scene (pictured, below) to Entertainment Weekly, “I wanted to bookend the journey-to tie her childhood yellow dress to her final look.”  The scarf (which is traditionally known as “Odhni” in India) is made from fabric that looks nearly identical to a beaded top Pinto wears in an earlier scene, so we wanted to feature both looks.  While wearing these outfits, Pinto’s character is attempting to reunite with her one true love, and without spoiling the ending, it’s one of the most romantic movie scenes I’ve ever seen. ❤

Look-of-the-Day

Last Wednesday we talked about how cute gingham was for summer weather, and here’s another perfect example!  Here, Elizabeth Taylor sports a white and yellow gingham button-down shirt – unbuttoned, sleeves rolled up and tied at her stomach with a great pair of high-waisted, tight white pants.  With her hair down, silver hoop earrings on and full makeup done, she looks like the most glamorous version of someone about to go on a picnic or enjoy a lazy day by the lake.

Samantha Jones has been the small screen’s favorite sex kitten ever since Sex and the City first aired in 1998.  The show was so popular, it was turned into a movie where the girls still dressed like stars!  Here, Kim Cattrall is buzzing like a sexy bumblebee as her alter-ego in yellow and black.  The jacket with jagged kerfs is Thierry Mugler, the pencil skirt is Herve Leger, the silver peep-toe stilettos are Dior, the bag is Hunting Season and the sunglasses are by Baby Phat.  Cattrall is over 50 here, but still looks like one seductive working girl!

Look-of-the-Day

We could have just dedicated this whole week to Victoria Beckham and her boys, because they always look cute!  Here, Posh is wearing a bright yellow Goat Kendall sundress in the south of France, looking like a great complement to son, Romeo’s, bright orange Ralph Lauren polo.  She accessorized her look with platform nude stilettos and a Hermes Himalayan crocodile Birkin 35 handbag.  (Although, Romeo’s cute little stuffed lamb makes a nice accessory, too!).  This mom-and-son pair look fantastic for summer fun in the sun!

Look-of-the-Day

What better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than featuring a maternity outfit?  Haha.  We’ve mentioned time and time again that Kate Hudson looks great in yellow, and even in her third trimester, she still looks gorgeous in the sunny hue.  Hudson wore this soft yellow, silk Versace gown to the premiere of her latest movie, Something Borrowed.  If something’s going to be borrowed, it’s Kate’s seemingly effortless glamour she maintains, even when she looks like she’s about to pop!  (The actress is expecting her second child with fiance, musician Matthew Bellamy.)  Hudson accessorized her look with Chrome Hearts CH+KH jewelry and Casadei heels.  It’s important to remember that even though you’re pregnant, there’s no reason not to get dressed up – and Kate cements that attitude in this gorgeous gown.

Look-of-the-Day

Angelina Jolie is usually dressed in head-to-toe black, but she surprised audiences and fashion critics alike when she wore this yellow dress to the 2007 Cannes Film Festival.  Created by Emanuel Ungaro, this draped gown is knotted at the base of the bodice, creating a beautiful twist.  Jolie accessorized it with simple jewelry by Chopard.  Daffodils are usually used to symbolize friendship, and while she certainly isn’t a friend of Jennifer Aniston, this queen of dark colors certainly looks friendlier is this bright gown.
