Wednesday’s Shoe

At first glance, these Brian Atwood heels look like the opposite of the classic red undercarriage of Christian Louboutins (red on the outside of the heel?!), but they’re actually black velvet platform pumps adorned with a red satin Christmas bow going up the back of the shoe!  The “Donna” pumps are from Atwood’s 2010 Fall/Winter Collection, but we still love them one year later!  These heels are perfect for the holiday season, using traditional yuletide elements without losing Atwood’s stylish signature or modern appeal.  On the left, they’re pictured on Selena Gomez, offering a lovely view of the shoe from behind.  They say good things come in small packages, and in these babies, you’ll be all wrapped up and tied with a bow!

Look-of-the-Day

We don’t know why Megan Fox got flack from some fashion critics for wearing this Armani Privé gown to the 2011 Golden Globe Awards… theSkinnyStiletto thinks she looks divine in this delicate rose gown.  The bodice is adorned with crisscrossing satin ribbons and an interwoven strap of Swarovski crystals.  Fox accessorized her look with Brian Atwood platform peep-toe pumps, jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz and a 1940s Veronica Lake hairdo.  The gown definitely has a young feel, which is why it made sense the 24-year-old was able to pull it off.

Wednesday’s Shoe

This “Wednesday’s Shoe” was created by shoe connoisseur Brian Atwood.  These baby pink satin Maniac stilettos are from his Fall/Winter 2011 Collection.  We nailed a hattrick with these babies today, being featured in our “Look-of-the-Day,” our shoe-of-the-day, and they are pink for “Pink Wednesday!”  Below you can see Eva Longoria looking anything but a maniac in Atwood’s perfect complement to her dress by pal Victoria Beckham.

Look-of-the-Day

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Wednesday’s homage to the color pink, we’re featuring Eva Longoria’s beautiful, pastel hued outfit for both “Look-of-the-Day” and for “Wednesday’s Shoe!”  Longoria is good friends with designer genius, Victoria Beckham, so naturally she has been seen wearing her friend’s fabulous frocks!  Beckham personally styled her friend when Longoria promoted her cookbook back in April.  The dress is from Beckham’s Spring/Summer 2011 Collection and is perfectly paired with a pair of Brian Atwood’s satin Maniac stilettos.  Longoria’s look is nicely balanced between her dark, luscious locks and smokey eyes, against the soft, subtle palette of the simple, yet striking gam revealer!  Move over Rachel Zoe, Beckham does it all, and apparently styling comes perfectly natural!

Wednesday’s Shoe

Brian Atwood is always innovative and daring, just like taking this old-fashioned oxford and turning it into something fresh and fabulous.  The Matilda, a member of his Pre-Fall 2011 Collection, makes quite a sexy statement in black suede and pink patent leather.  Something that was once so masculine now looks so fiercely feminine with the great mix of a chunky platform and delicate heel.  The attention to detail and beautiful arch and lace-up front make this shoe a must-have of the fall season!

Wednesday’s Shoe

In honor of the Oscars, we thought this “Wednesday’s Shoe” should be our favorite pair from this year’s Academy Awards ceremony – Anne Hathaway’s Brian Atwood Fiona Custom Swarovski Crystal Degrade pumps that she wore during her musical number.  The black stilettos are studded in 8,000 crystals!  Some people disliked her performance as an Oscar host, but we thought she was just dazzling in these shining shoes.

2011 Oscar Rundown

Reese Witherspoon in Armani Privé

Mila Kunis in Elie Saab

This year’s Oscar ceremony was hosted by two of Hollywood’s hottest young stars and we must admit – the youth of this show were definitely dominating our “Best Dressed” list.  Our two favorite gowns were Reese Witherspoon in Armani Privé and Mila Kunis in Elie Saab Haute Couture, pictured above.

Jennifer Lawrence in Calvin Klein

Witherspoon looked very sophisticated in black and white, with a 1960s up-do and Neil Lane diamond and emerald drop earrings.  Kunis was just stunning in lavender lace and Neil Lane diamonds, as well.  Twenty-year-old Jennifer Lawrence was red-hot in Calvin Klein and Jimmy Choo shoes.

Cate Blanchett in Couture Givenchy

Very simple accessories, yet exquisite hair and makeup.  Cate Blanchett was daring, as always, but looked absolutely fantastic in lilac Givenchy Haute Couture.  Celine Dion was unbelievably pretty in Armani Privé, considering she just had twin boys… And the hostess with the most-ess, Anne Hathaway, looked beautiful in white and crystal-embroidered Couture Givenchy, a scarlet Atelier Vesace gown, and easily the best pumps of the night – Brian Atwood Swarovski-crystal stilettos during her musical number.  Overall, theSkinnyStiletto was kind of bored with the other bright colors, sparkly nudes and mermaid style dresses.  These gals did it best – and their famous counterparts should mimic their commitment to being adventurous and glamorous, without sacrificing true style – or at least drop the trends everyone else is wearing.
